JAKARTA, November 8, 2024 – The Indonesian government has issued Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No. 81 of 2024, which will take effect on January 1, 2025. One of the major changes in this regulation is the simplification of deadlines for the payment and reporting of various types of taxes, which must now be settled no later than the 15th of the month following the end of the tax period.
This regulation covers taxes such as Income Tax (PPh), including PPh Articles 21, 22, and 25, all of which must be paid and reported by the 15th of the following month. Additionally, Value Added Tax (VAT) and carbon taxes collected by taxpayers are also required to be submitted by the same deadline.
The changes aim to introduce a more transparent, efficient, and accountable tax administration system, in line with the upcoming Coretax system. The government hopes these reforms will enhance tax compliance and support the national economy.
However, certain types of taxes still have special provisions for their deadlines, such as VAT on imports, which remains under separate rules. Failure to meet these obligations may result in penalties as stipulated by applicable tax laws.
